Ever since September 2010, Eastgate has enjoyed having a community radio station resident within the Centre. Gateway 97.8 is situated within the Upper Galleries opposite Mission, where it has a modern studio with superb views of the malls. Staffed by a team of volunteers, Gateway not only broadcasts from Basildon to East Tilbury but also provides valuable media training for members of the community, from the young to the not so young. This is a unique service and one much appreciated by numerous schools and individuals in the very short period of time since the station acquired its broadcasting licence.
